In Memory of Lucia Colavita

                                                 
The Lucia Colavita Foundation has been established in memory of Lucia (Lucy) M. Colavita; a selfless, caring, young woman who was full of life and who always put the needs and well-being of others before her own.  Lucy was many things to many people; but most of all, she was an amazing human being who brought sunshine and happiness into the lives of those whom were blessed to have had a chance to know her and love her.  In addition to all that she did for the benefit of her family and friends, Lucy was a dedicated teacher who never failed to advocate for her students and who instilled in them the importance of always doing their very best.

Sadly, Lucy lost her life on October 30th, 2011 at the age of 34, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.  The Lucia Colavita Foundation is a not for profit organization dedicated to raising funds for various education and medical based initiatives.  It has been established in order to honour Lucy's personal wishes to continue to make life better for others.  It is important to note that what sets this foundation apart from many is our commitment to a direct funding model; all funds raised are donated to specific research projects and education initiatives which are hand chosen.  As a result, the foundation ensures that 100% of all funds dispersed are utilized in the manner in which they are intended.

Although Lucy is no longer physically with us, her memory and generous spirit continue to inspire all those who knew her, and her courage will undoubtedly touch the lives of many whom she never personally had a chance to meet, but whom will benefit from her loving and beneficent spirit.
